Houston Hobby Airport

William P. Hobby Airport is Houston's second busiest airport, after Bush Intercontinental Airport, ranked 34th in the USA for passenger traffic.

Operated by the City of Houston Dept. of Aviation, Hobbey airport is located within the city limits of Houston, Texas.  The airport is also within the boundaries of Harris County, Texas.

Location: 7800 Airport Blvd., Houston, Texas 77061

entrance is on Airport Blvd., between Broadway Street and Glencrest Street.

Geographic location: Latitude: 29.65 Longitude: -95.28
Elevation above sea level: 85ft.

Hobby Airport is about 7 miles south of Downtown Houston, Texas near the Gulf Freeway (Hwy I-45).

General Aviation is a very active sector at Houston Hobby, with many corporate hangers.

Home to 5 FBO's (Fixed Base Operators)
The airport has 42 hangers and over 250 aircraft based on-site.

Facilities include 4 concrete runways, with full tower and instrument landing facilities.

In early 2012, Hobby's largest tenant, Southwest Airlines proposed adding international flights to Mexico and the Caribbean from Houston Hobby airport. Houston City Council approved the expansion of Southwest Airlines service at Hobby Airport.  New construction, paid for by Southwest, will add 5 international passenger gates and a new customs facility.

International flights from Houston Hobby began on May 9, 2015, with Southwest Airlines' seasonal route to Aruba. More international flights are scheduled to begin in October, 2015, when construction of the new international terminal is completed.

When the new terminal facilities begin serving flights to other countries, the airport's name is expected to be changed to "William P. Hobby International Airport".
